Weird Trend of the Day: Rainbow Teeth!

Chrom temporary tooth polish is like nail polish … but for your choppers. You too can have a smile in shades like Sunshine, Fairy Dust, Mint, and Pretty in Pink, for just $20 a bottle. And while a pastel grin might be a big hit on the music festival circuit, it’s hard to imagine wearing rainbow teeth into the office. But Chrom creator thinks it’s only a matter of time before it becomes more mainstream.

“We see this becoming commonplace - everything from a club vibe to an everyday workplace fashion accent,” he explains. “Perhaps you go to work with one tooth [that] matches your nail polish or your hair color.”

The polish is designed to stay on for up to 24 hours and last through eating and drinking. So how do you get it off? Just brushing with toothpaste will do it, they say. But is all that really safe for your teeth? Silverstein says the product’s solvent is made from a grain alcohol base and the pigments are similar to food coloring and are “compliant with the Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act.” While he won’t share the full ingredient list for proprietary reasons, he assures us Chrom is “100% safe” and was formulated by dentists. But these are our teeth we’re talking about, so maybe talk to a dentist before you sport a rainbow smile every day.
